UPDATED: TSA Does Not Want You Taking Photos Of Their Bearded "Islamic" Screeners

Author Dana Vachon, remembered by everyone the internet as the blogger turned novelist with a six figure publishing deal, is currently tweeting about his troubles at JFK airport.

According to Vachon, whose Twitter account is mostly a kind of fictitious novel via Twitter, the TSA ordered him to delete a photo he took "...of a bearded Islamic security guard at JFK."

Department Of Homeland Security Sells Ad Space During Screening Process

The photo above was taken at JFK International Airport during the screening process. As seen, the buckets used to hold your shoes, bags, and personal products as you and move through the security check-in now have advertising on the bottom. In this case, for Zappos.com, an online online apparel and footwear site.

This ad campaign was announced in December of 2009. NYC The Blog asked a TSA screener what she thought of it. "I think it's stupid," she replied, "who wants to look at an ad on the bottom of a bucket?"

The buckets and the advertisements that accompany them, along with the low-tech, wheeled carriers used to collect and dispense the trays, as well as the metal tables the buckets are placed on before sending them through to be x-rayed, are all part of the patented SecureTray System developed by SecurityPoint Media LLC.

It's only a matter of time before TSA employees themselves are sponsored by all manner of business concerns, their uniforms covered in patches for Tide, Rolex, and Camel Cigarettes.

ALL YOUR TRANSPORTATION HUBS ARE BELONG TO US

HSBC
, Hong Kong's favorite global bank, has blanketed NYC and major metropolitan cities with an ongoing series of advertisements intended to provoke a questioning of your belief systems. Are those prescription drugs for my back pain, or a little fun with my alcohol? Is Williamsburg a hott nasty mess of a community that should be razed, is it douchebag central, or the worst place to live in nyc?

The ads appear everywhere in NYC, with many concentrated in or on public transit --on subway walls, bus shelters, inside the trains, on buses themselves. And as the photo above shows, HSBC has gone the extra mile and covered the passenger dock for Air Canada at JFK airport in NYC. Pedestrians, commuters, baggage handlers, and people who have window seats on Air Canada will all be subjected to HSBC's advertisements. And fuck me, on account of their very impressive advertising campaign, if I didn't already have one bank that is holding my 800 dollars in life savings, I just might have walked into an HSBC branch here and opened an account.
