In spite of New York City's reputation as the bike theft capital of the planetary universe, many cyclists still believe it alright to lock only the tire. These two sad and lonely tires will tell you it's not. Some people even choose to use no lock at all.

Unfortunately, the experience of many shows, you will most likely lose your bike unless it is securely locked. But not all is lost if you come back to find only your tire left behind; now you can learn to ride a unicycle.

Cyclists Visits Hudson River Park And Leaves Bike Unlocked

A bike is left untended and unlocked at Hudson River Park near Chelsea, after its owner rode to the park and dutifully dismounted, as the sign instructs, before entering to stroll about the manicured grounds. The carefree citizen parked her bike at the bike rack and meandered away. Ten minutes later the untroubled cyclist was no where to be seen.

Kids Bikes For Sale Outside Whole Foods On Houston Street

The two kids bikes seen above were locked to racks outside Whole Foods on Houston Street over the weekend, for sale at $40.00 and $30.00 respectively. For those unaware, children's bikes are a great mode of transportation to quickly and agilely get around your neighborhood. They have the added bonus of being small and lightweight, easy to carry in and out of any residence.
