Nolita's Cupcake Wars Take Shape: Brooklyn's Little Cupcake Bakeshop And Chelsea's Billy's Bakery Announce Fall Arrival

New York City's Cupcake Economy is coming to Nolita in a big way with a head to head battle between two heavyweights. Over the weekend, Brooklyn's Little Cupcake Bakeshop hung their flag on 30 Prince Street (seen at right) announcing a fall arrival in the space formerly occupied by Kitchen Club, and currently undergoing an extended renovation.

And as reported in Crain's just a few days ago, Chelsea's Billy's Bakery is scheduled to open their third branch two blocks away on Elizabeth Street, near Houston, this November.

This is an episode on Cupcake Wars just waiting to happen.  As Bruce Zipes of Bruce's Bakery in Great Neck recently said: "If you wanna be a General in the cupcake wars, you betta be mentally, phyisically, emotionally ready, willing and able."
