MTA Erases Commuter Angst At BP

After a fellow commuter left his thoughts on BP in the 86th Street station on Lexington Avenue, the MTA acted quickly to remove it. Within days it was scrubbed clean; the sentiment remains however.

The Dalai Lama Goes Smoke Free

The Dalai Lama was last seen smoking the dope at the 6 train's 86th Street Lexington Station (see photo at left) in advance of his appearances at Radio City Music Hall this week. He has since gone smoke free, as witnessed below, where a new poster was laid on top of previous one.

Ann Coulter Rides Subway, Is Not Happy About It

Ann Coulter was spotted at the 86th Street 6 train station this past Friday, waiting for the subway with the rest of the unwashed masses.

In a surprising and savvy move for one of Manhattan's elite, Coulter waited midway down the stairs leading to the express train, taking a position that allows one to observe the local and express train enter the station, affording you the option of riding whatever one happens to arrive first.

She appeared very pensive and impatient, almost angry looking, as if waiting for the train was an unbearable experience.

Finally the express roared into the station and she boarded. She did not look happy to be riding a subway. Immediately, a panhandler stepped in from the other car. He made his way through the train, asking for food or money. NYC The Blog have him a dollar. Making his way passed a seated Ann Coulter, she ignored his request before exiting at 59th Street. The Dalai Lama Smokes Trees

Taking the concept of adopting trees to a more consumer friendly conclusion, one clever commuter passing through the 86th Street 6 train station took a moment to enhance an advertisement featuring his holiness, who is due to make an appearance at Radio City Music Hall this May.

A rather large joint was added, protruding from the Dalai Lama's lips. Care was used to add detail, as they even embellished their handiwork with flame to create an actual burn mark the size of a cigar on the Dalai Lama's joint.

Going Back To Breuckelen: Remixing Subway Signs For The 1600s

Going to Breuckelen? You can time travel to the year 1646, or hop on the 4, 5, or 6 train at 86th and Lexington at the NW entrance.

NYC The Blog got off downtown, so can not confirm if the train really does bring you back to 1646.

UPDATED: Pull String For?

Seen this morning at the 86th Street and Lexington stop on the 6 line. What is the string for? Pull string for emergency? Pull string for to get an MTA employee on the line? NYC The Blog will follow this up, and updates will be added with any new information.

UPDATE: After NYC The Blog took to Twitter to query the MTA about the string, they responded almost immediately, double checking first before explaining the string, is "being used to pull wire through the conduit to this Customer Assistance Intercom installation." Soon, that box will indeed get you through to someone, though via phone instead of string.
